I am a full time professional photographer and have just started a project of making high quality photographs of lighthouses. I live c. 4 hrs. from the gulf (Lanett, AL). I just learned of the Sand Island Lighthouse yesterday while in Pensacola at the same time I learned of the Biloxi Lighthouse. I was led to believe it was only about 1000 feet from daulphin Island, but I learned different when I arrived on the shore of D.I. I was out of time and had to leave for home with only the Pensacola Light and the Biloxi Light Photographed. After viewing this site I am determined to return to shoot the S.I. Light. I need detailed info on where it can be veiwed from. What are the options for getting to Sand Island and what are the distances it can be veiwed from on sand Island. I would apreciate any info on this and maybe my photos will benifit this group in the future.
