Having had my fingers crossed that the AHC would accept ownership of Sand Island and preserve/restore it, I am disappointed as Mr. Lee is, at their recent decision. I plan on contacting Governor Siegelman, Lee Warner and other members of the AHC tomorrow and voice my displeasure. Surely there are a few Alabama Representatives and Senators that can help us? I urge everyone to write and/or call. Sand Island is as important structure to the State of Alabama as the Capitol building in Birmingham, Helen Keller's homeplace in Tuscambia or Denney Chimes in Tuscaloosa.
