The ALA lighthouse meeting was today.
The Lighthouse Reception was a great success and Pete Oneal was honored for accomplishing the setting up the reception in six weeks.
Middle Bay Lighthouse
Discussed docking plans with engineers and board reviewed the plans. Reviewed lighting plans, signage and security measures. Covered contract status and
dates, covered planning for work parties to complete work tasks at Middle Bay Lighthouse. Committee assignments made to cover all current items. Decision made to inquire into status of proposal with Alabama Historical Commission regarding issues brought up at last meeting
Covered lantern room status and discussed trailer and reconstruction status. We talked about future plans for the lantern room. Committee will have base ready early next year. Warren agreed to examine photo and give height estimate for replication of base.
Sand Island Lighthouse.
Covered asking Sand Island project engineers to be at next meeting.
Covered ownership transfer status.
Volkert still wants to be involved with project.
Created committee to formulate business plan structure for Sand Island Lighthouse project.
Discussed fund raising and elevated Sand Island Lighthouse project status to equal priority with Middle Bay Lighthouse over the winter months. Weather delays at Middle Bay allow more Sand Island work to be accomplished.
NEW BUSINESS
Covered member request to attend board meetings.
Decision made to allow quartely open membership meetings. Covered request for newsletter.Covered setting time later, decision made to continue at 3:00 because of 5:00 time limit of meeting space.
Historian agreed to write two articles at press request.
Created committee to have membership cards and membership certificates created.
Set price of $5.00 for selling coffee mugs that we have available.
Covered other promotional items and committee will report at next meeting with results and suggestions.
Asked Warren to bring Pins to next meeting along with special prints of Middle Bay Lighthouse.
