I am glad someone has already mentioned the attempt
to involve Alabama's school children (like the
SUCCESSFUL return of the USS Alabama to the state).
It was very ironic that on Friday I had shown
slides of the Sand Island Lighthouse to my 11th &
12th grade marine biology students, only to go home
and read the article (The Birmingham News)concerning
the commission's response.
If a follow-up article could be written and this web site
address included, maybe there would be an increase in
interest in the light house. Just an idea! Good Luck!!!
