Has anyone investigated the feasibility and cost of relocating the lighthouse? This has been done with other lights along the Atlantic coast, though to my knowledge, none were located offshore. There used to be a lightkeeper's house at the base of the lighthouse. It seems to me, if a place and money could be found, perhaps one of the houses from the fort could be placed with the lighthouse, to be restored and create a nice attraction and useful property for Dauphin Island.
