I rescued the little lighthouse from a junk yard in Pensacola, Fl in 1966 and presented it to the Alabama Historic Commission for restoration. They restored the tower as Alabama's contribution to the 200th anniversary of the lighthouse service.
Fort Morgan has never recognized my efforts in the recavery of the lighthouse but the Mobile Historic Development Commission presented me with a plaque in December 1992 for the project.
My file on the history of the lighthouse is open to anyone interested in further information.
