This is a photograph of the plumb bob that was being used to check the tower to see how much it was tilting. The view is from above and taken from the south side facing north If the tower was true in its vertical axis then the plumb bob would be centered over the 2" hole just to its left. The opening behind the plumb bob is the entrance door to the Lighthouse. Note the condition of the first flight of stairs required that 2x6 lumber be placed over them for safety. This can be seen in this photo also. a feel for the thickness of the structure can be obtained by looking at the doorway.

There will be another trip to check the towers degree of tilt using electronic instruments later.
