This photograph is taken from near the entrance door of the Lighthouse. The view is North by West. The cast iron columns are the remains of the supporting structure for the last home that was on the island. The slab is three foot thick. You can see that the slab has been undermined by the sea and is tilting. This slab is only ten feet away from the base of the tower. If we cannot get rocks placed around the tower soon the foundation of the Lighthouse will be undermined like the old house slab. Once this happens the Lighthouse will fall into the Gulf of Mexico.
